Unhappy Dryer won't start
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PYE4558AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Dryer wont' start - light does not come on so power is not going thru it. I checked the outlet - it works. I replaced the power cord, still does not work. I am not sure what comes next and I don't wnat to break a nail trying to take it apart in the wrong place (my transmission on my car went out & my lawn mower quit along with the dryer all at the same time - fixed the car & the mower, the dryer is next). Thanks.

What you have is a blown thermal fuse. If you get a putty knife, and stick it in betwwe the front panel and the top of the dryer on the right side, and then pop up the top on that side, and do the same on the left side. Push the top back, and in the top of the back area you will see the heating element, and a theromostat, which will all have red wiring, if you look to the right of the element housing, you will see 2 white wires going down. Follow those, and they will lead you tp the thermal fuse. The part # is LA1053. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
