Default Dryer won't shut off.
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.7208700
Age: More than 10 years

It's an old Kenmore dryer that worked correctly. One of the wheels that the basket turns on wore out and I replaced it last week. I only took the shaft and wheel off. I made no electrical changes. I did open the top but touched nothing. It ran but didn't heat until I re-hooked up the little grounding strap on the back. Now it runs and heats but doesn't shut off at end of cycle. The dial moves and when it hits OFF it stops heating but keeps running. I can rotate it by hand and it does the same. It shuts off and stays off when opening the door. Do I need a new control knob/switch?

Default

I'm saying this again because I see many have this problem and need to find this answer. I had the exact same problem. I even have it listed on this forum. Reading some of the replys I decided to open up the console and look at the timer assembly. Upon opening I found it packed with lint that escaped the lint trap system. I got the vacuum cleaner out with it's thin wand and cleaned it all up and got as close as I could to wires, switches, etc. Voila ...it works! Some contacts must have been not making contact due to lint. I sure am glad I didn't spend the $60+ on a new timer. This may even help some of your not heating problems ...contacts have to make contact. Hope this works for all of you out there. I see many have this problem.
