You have a bad timer. I usually take them apart to verify.

I took timer out and run it without starting dryer itself. it works ok and finishes the cycle and stops, but when I start dryer, again, timer comes to cooling down phase and won't stop.
please help...Nick

You mis-wired your timer. When the dryer timer moves to the off position does it shut down the motor. If it does and the timer motor still runs you put the timer motor wires on the wrong pins. If the drum motor still runs in off, you mis-wired the drum motor wire.
Check per schematic and post results.
