Default Dryer won't heat up
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mde5500ayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

Dryer won't heat up. Checked lint trap and vent lines. Vent lines and back of dryer going into vent line were packed full of lint. Cleaned and re-started dryer. No heat. Seems as tought the temperature is ambient. Crap, first the oven, now the dryer. Need help, going through the appliance self distruct mode. What could be wrong with this dryer and how can I repair it. Any assistance given would be most appreciated.

Since the motor runs the two thermal fuses should be OK

Your heater path is:
L1 - heater relay RL2 - cycling thermostat - high limit thermostat - heater - motor switch contacts - L2

First ones I would check are the heater and thermostats
high limit on the HEATER
cycling on the MOTOR DRIVE

First thing I checked was the heater. Dead open. Reads infininte resistance. I have continuaty between all themostat poles, so it seems they are alright. I'll be on my way to buy a new heater.
