Talking Dryer won't heat but tumbles
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: MK5005069
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our dryer was heating it seemed when we turned it to permanent press or the timer. It wouldn't heat up on cotton. Now it won't heat at all. We've checked all the connections and made sure that the exhaust duct is clean. My husband thinks it's the ignitor, but I think it's the heating element that has gone bad. Also, it might be the thermal fuse that needs to be replaced, but I can't get to it, to check it. any help would be great.

Un plug your dryer, pull out the dryer, remove the vent hose. remove the small screws on the back cover, look at the tall silver heating unit, at the top left side,
you'll see 2 wires pluged in there. thats the thermal cut off.
remove one wire and ck the thermal for continuity. if no, buy a thermal cut off kit, it comes with a new thermal & a new hi-limit thermostat. but be warned, that fuse(cutoff) blew out for a reason!! I also ck for a lint packed, lint chute. While you have the back off, remove the 4 small screws from the lower section of lint chute
( the tall painted flat tube the lint filter is in) then remove the 2 phillipps screws right under the lint filter. lift and pull out the chute, out and away.take it out side, and hose it out thourghly, dry and replace. this is a must for all top lint filter models, ie whirlpools, kenmore, roper, estate, kitchen aid, capri, and crosley.

thanks so much! I'll try that tonite. The last time my husband fixed the dryer, we ended up in the emergency room for stitches!!! I'm determined to do this myself if I can.
