Default Dryer wont heat but runs fine
Brand: Roper
Model Number: rex3514rq1
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dryer has stopped drying. I have checked the thermal fuse which is fine. I removed the heating element and it seems to be ok, no breaks in the coil. Not sure if the element can go bad without showing a break in the coil or not. Or can you check the element for continuity like you would with the fuse?

Have you check the voltage at wall outlet?

It should be 240 volts.

The element can be checked like a fuse.

If there are no breaks in the coil the element is good.

Check the wires at the motor switch.

Check the wires where the cord is connected to the dryer.

If the thermal fuse is bad the dryer will not run or heat.

Here is a link to your dryer model rex3514rq1.

When you checked the thermal fuse that is located on top of the heater housing, did you take the wires off to check continuity? If not do so. Yes you can check the element for continuity, if you get it is good. Again be sure to take 1 wire off to check continuity. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
