Default Dryer won't heat
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DE110 series 01
Age: More than 10 years

I have an old DE110 dryer that runs but will not heat up. I checked for the parts on this site but all parts are listed for a series "00" and mine is a series "01." Perhaps it is just the thermostat but I am not sure the 00 parts will interchange. I have not removed anything yet so the wiring is still correct. Anyone got an idea?

Thanks! I will order some parts and see what's up. Should I start with the thermal fuse and maybe he thermostat?

Have you check your house fuses or circuit breakers?

Do this before ordering any parts.

Start with the thermal fuse.

Yes, I checked the house fuses first since that has happened before. Thanks.

Your dryer has no thermal fuze! I use an ohmeter to check continuity of all heater parts, with the power off.
I would check the overload and cycling thermostats and the heater.
If you find no problem there, check the timer contacts, the larger gauge wires are the ones to check.

After finally deciding to "get into" the works of the dryer I found that much of the wiring is corroded and very brittle from years of heating and cooling. After careful consideration of the wiring and other electrical parts in this 25+ year old appliance I have decided to replace it instead of fix it. Thanks to all for the helpful postings.
