Default Dryer wont heat
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LER7620KQ0
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,

Dryer stopped heating so i removed the heating element and ohm tested it. I get a reading of around 2000. I know an infinite reading means the element is bad but what does a resistance of 2000 mean? Is the element just old but still functioning? I dont really want to replace it just to find out that it wasn't the problem. Can anyone help?

The ohms reading that you get depends on the wattage of the element.

The wattage of the element that you have is likely a 2800 watt element.

There is a formula called ohm's law to calculate this.

Your element is good.

Did you check the voltage at the dryer plug?

You should get a reading of 240 volts if you don't you have a open fuse.

Check the wiring at the motor switch.

Here is link to your dryer model LER7620KQ0.
