You will need a meter to check this.

Question Dryer does not heat clothing

My Maytag Dryer Model - DE303 and Serial Number - 490644 TA does everything except heat the clothes, therefore, making it the least energy efficient dryer known to man.

I believe it's the heating element, but I was told it could be a number of things such as the thermostat and I don't feel like nor have the money to replace everything or more than necessary. I wish I did, but I am contemplating whether or not I should just sell it, but first install the heating element of course. At least on the positive side of things, is the fact that it's the Summer so that I can use the clothesline to dry my clothes! Yet come winter time, it just does not seem to work so well. I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Thank you!

Zach

I have the same exact problem and I believe it is the heating element. I am not 100% positive that is why I am here as well. I don't want to buy something only to find out it wasn't that. Well I hope this helps. Good luck and look on the bright side at least it is not winter. Use the clothesline for now and soon you will have her up and running.

i called a repair/parts store and asked them what they thought the problem was and the guy the told me that the most likely cause was either the ignighter or the coil, bought both $30.00 each and changed the ignighter first and it turns out that was the problem.whole job took about 20 minutes,u can get to these parts buy removing the front of the dryer,if u're in the detroit area maple appliance services248-253-9200 good people and know what they are talking about. good luck

check the ignighter, that is what was wrong with mine took 20 mininutes to fix, called the repair shop and they told me that this is the most common cause $30.00 for the part.can get to the parts by removing the front of the dryer. hope this helps, for a quick check for the ignighter remove the front of the dryer disconect the gas supply first and plug the dryer in to power suppply turn on the dryer and watch the ignighter if it glows after a few seconds then it is somthing else if it doesn't glow than i would change it,only handle the ignighter by the ceramic white part

I have an electric Dryer not a gas one and therefore do not have an igniter. Heating element is what I suspect is the problem.
