Default Dryer won't heat
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DDE6500GAL
Age: Please select

My dryer is not heating up anymore. I took it apart, cleaned out any lent, and replaced the heat elements. When I put everything back together, it still wouldn't heat up. Is there anything else I could check? Thanks

Thermostats, you have 3 I see listed in your parts breakdowns. 2 shown in the "Cabinet Front" parts breakdown and 1 in the Drum and Heater Assembly Breakdown.

Also want to make sure your getting the 240 volts to the dryer. This is made up by 2 seperate 120 volts lines feeding it. The motor runs off 120 volts and just one of the two lines. You may have dropped the other line which would allow it to run but not heat.

To go one step farther, when checking out the thermostats, unplug the dryer, and use your ohm meter to check the thermostats, make sure you pull at least 1 wire off of the thermostat, that you are checking, and if you get a reading it is good, if not replace it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
