Default Dryer Won't Heat
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PYE2000AYW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Dryer does not heat. Checked heating element continuity, it is good. Electricity gets to heating element. How many thermastats are on this model? If the thermastats were bad would electricity get to the heating element? Could the heating element not heat even if it has continuity?

You are measuring something incorrectly.

If the heater gets voltage (240 volts) and has continuity (10 ohms approx), it will heat.

Could be the heater measures OK but has a break as soon as the current hits it the break opens. Give the heater a jiggle while measuring it.

When you measure a part always remove the wires from one side of it, otherwise you may be measuring a parallel circuit path. Also use a low scale to measure the heater. Check the heater terminals to the case, should be an open.

To get 240 volts across the heater the thermostat must be OK
