Default Dryer won't automatically shut off
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mdg9706aww
Age: 5 - 10 years

gas (lp gas) dryer drys fine but won't shut off in auto dry mode and won't advance or shut off timer on timed mode, I replaced moisture sensor and checked for blockage in vent from dryer, I read it may be a operating thermostat? or is it a bad timer? Thanks for any help, Wayne...

It is likely the operating thermostat that has failed.

The timer will not run if the thermostat does not open.

The operating thermostat is located on the blower housing.

Here is a link to your dryer model mdg9706aww.

Thanks Sheila,

At first I was going to replace the timer assembly but decided to wait and check with this forum before wasting $100
