First of all, thanks to all those who share their knowledge with those of us who seem to be knowledge impaired. I have been able to solve a lot of problems from forums like this one.
My dryer spins and heats but will not dry. The lint screen is always damp after I try to use and there have been no lint deposits since I began having this problem. I read somewhere there might be a lint blockage, but still having the problem after taking apart dryer and cleaning everywhere lint could be hiding. I did clean out a lot of lint, plus I found my son's lost school id, but the thing still won't dry. The exhaust is also clear. I am not sure how old the dryer is as I bought at an auction. I really need to get some more mileage out of this dryer.
Did you see if the blower wheel is spinning? I find a lot of tags that run & sound good and open the door and are hot , but clothes dry extremely slow. And I find that the blower wheel slips on the motor shaft and blow no hot moist out the tail pipe. I then replace the blower wheel, a common problem with maytags
Get a pair of pantie hose, put one leg inside the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust. Give it some room to blow out like a windsock. You should have a fair amount of pressure in the pantyhose and of course heat. If the dryer works good now then you have a vent problem.
When you took the dryer apart did you check the felt seals at both ends of the dryer drum. Take a piece of thin cardboard like a cereal box top and work your way around both ends of the tub to see if the seals are OK.
Your sons ID escaped from the tub so may be there is an air leak somewhere and moist air is not going out through the lint filter and out the vent
most dryers have a motor, on one end of the motor the belt ataches to turn the drum. The other end of the motor a blower wheel is atached to blow hot air through your clothes , and take the moisture out, got it?
The blower wheel was the problem. I was able to buy a new one for $16. I now have a dryer and don't have to drag wet clothes to the laundry mat. Thanks for all your help!
