Default Dryer will not stop
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LDG9606AAM
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hey, i have a maytag dryer that recently started acting up. It'll dry the clothes just fine but it will not stop on it's own. You have to open the door in order to stop it from running. Would this be a timer issue and if so is it easy to replace on your own. Any assistance or documentation on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The timer would be a pretty good guess. I understand you open the door to get it to stop, when you close the door again does it just automatically take off running again or do you have to push the button to restart it. If you have to push the button again to restart it after the door has been open then this sounds even more like the timer being the cause of your problem.

yeah. After i open the door it stops and of course when i close the door again it's still off until i press the button to get it started. If it is in fact the timer is there any documentation anywhere that i can use to replace this myself or a website to buy the part from? I've tried to search around but without luck.

Here's your parts breakdown, your timer is #7 in the control panel breakdown...

Maytag LDG9606AAM Parts List

That breakdown shows you what has to come apart to get to it. Changing a timer is pretty easy you'll find.

Pop out that #4 cap with a small flat screw driver and then take the hidden #6 screw out is the only secret that may not be directly obvious to you.

Yeah, i had opened the panel up to take a look at the timer and it doesn't seem like much of a hassle to change out. Thanks a bunch for your help.
