Here is a parts breakdown of your unit
Whirlpool LER5636EQ2

I do not have a schematic but most dryers are basically the same
You have a number of things that can cause this
First did you remove one wire from the device you were measuring?
This prevents getting a reading from an alternate circuit path.
Did you use the lowest ohms scale?
Did you check for 220 volts, sometimes half the line can drop out and not blow the breaker

Have you tried it on all cycle types/temps

Look at the tub section you have 3 thermostats and a thermal fuse
Most likely not the thermal fuse as this also cuts power to the motor.
Look at the schematic it is usually in the Neutral
Then you have the Cycling, Cutoff and High Limit thermostats, all must be 0 ohms

If you have checked all the thermostats and the timer all that is left is the motor's centrifugal switch. I would remove the two wires from the switch, short them together and give that a try. Just tape them up so that they do not short out.
Could try it with the unit opened up, just do not let it run very long as you will blow the thermal fuse.

If you get heat then you know it is the switch.
If no heat then it must be a bad wire so you will have to do a point to point resistance check of the heater circuit.
Leave the short on the switch, start at L2 on the plug and move through the wiring till an open shows up.

You might want to pull the element, because if you check it on ohms and the heater coil broke, and grounded to the case, you would get a false reading. Also when you checked the thermal fuse on top of the heater housing, did you take the wires off, and ohm it out? And last, did you check the power coming to the dryer where the plug comes into the dryer? If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
