Dryer Warm / Repairman comments... Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 11097529120 Age: More than 10 years - Kenmore Dryer runs warm but not hot. The vents and everything are clean.
- Sears repairman said "thermostat" needs replaced. He quoted me / sears receipt reads:
"1 SUB Thrmst-F" $37.78 Part
"Thermostat Fixed" $38.00 Labor
I want to replace this myself. But on my "parts list" I don't see anything labeled thermostat.
- what would be the part # for the above description?
- is it only 1 thermostat part?
- I am somewhat handy, could I replace this myself??
(you might be thinking $75 is not alot, but the timer is also broken (a little) and Sears says they must fix everything, so that would add another $244 to the bill for a total of $326! (I can buy a new dryer instead). The timer has been broken for a long time and mostly works; has nothing to do with the heat issue which is new.)
(Repairman said something about different thermostats stop at 150 degrees, others at 110 degrees or something?? Is this a clue I need for ordering a new thermostat?)
- Is is true Sears must fix everything (even when issues not related?)
- Would a Non-sears repair person fix just the thermostat and ignore the timer if I asked him to?
(I am unemployed now and hate to pay $326 to fix a $37 problem!)
Thanks for your help. |
