Default Dryer turns but no heat
Brand: Please select
Model Number: Maytag DE407
Age: More than 10 years

Progression of symptoms to now having no heat:
1. Took longer and longer to dry clothes over years' time.
2. Last several times using, it put out a bad smell, mixed fumes,
chemical/rotten/almost plastic melting.
3. Now it puts out no warm air, but drum does rotate.
I cannot see any melted parts inside. Does this seem more likely to be thermostats, heating element, or what else?
Is there no way to get to the front inside than to remove whole cabinet?
Can front panel only be removed?

The whole cabinet will have to be remove to get to the front of the dryer.

Check the heating element for continuity.

Check the exhaust vent to make sure that it is clear.

If the vent is made of the corrugated plastic it should be change to corrugated metal or rigid metal.

Here is a link to your dryer model DE407.
