Take off the vent hose turn on the dryer an see if you have a strong blast of hot air coming out of the dryer if so, put in a load in and see if it dryes better.
But if you don't have these results, and you haven't taken apart the lint chute in the last 5 years, take the lint chute out and dig a 1/4 pound of hard packed lint out.
3 out of every 5, 5 yr old dryers I take apart, are blocked at the blower wheel, under the lint chute!

;D

As a bonus, while cleaning it all out you'll likely find several dollars worth of money and any long lost jewlry.

Where might you find the lint chute?? Is it behind the dryer where the vent hose is or somewhere else?

I took apart the lint chute and cleaned out at the blower wheel, and put it back together, and have a load drying as we speak, but it doesn't appear to be drying any better.

It is heating. I did notice something while working on it. I ran the dryer with everything attached. Than I detached the lint chute and turned on the dryer and got a significant amount of air flow out the vent hose. As soon as I put the lint chute back on, the air flow deminished by about 50% out the vent hose

Could that mean that something might be clogged closer to the middle of the vent chute rather than at the bottom?? I also checked the grate where it vents into the dryer and it didn't appear to have anything blocking or clogging it.

The blower fan is working good and producing plenty of airflow, it's just not doing it when the lint chute in attached.

When I clean a part or lint chute, I clean it throughly, not part of it, I allways flush it with my garden hose for a minute or two. let it dry and replace it. make sure the uper & lower foam gasket is in good shape, do not put the lint chute with out the foam gaskets, as you will have air leaks,

How do you get the lint chute completely off. I tried, but between the drum and the top brace of the dryer, it won't come out?? It won't slide down and out either.

Default thanks

I removed the lint chute and hosed it out. Dried it, and replaced it back into the dryer and everything works great. Thanks for the info. I'm not too sure how it got that way, since we regularly, in fact between each load, clean the lint screen.
