Cool Dryer tumbles, blowers work, no heat
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mde8600ayw
Age: 1 - 4 years

Timer spins, no friction or noise. blower works and the drum tumbles normaly. There was no warning. No wires or terminals look burnt. I suspect the timer is bad. How do I/ can I test it with a vom ? Anyother tests to preform to troubleshoot the dryer and determine the problem?

Hi. You can verify the timer with a meter, however, I would go through and check components such as the high limit thermostat, thermal fuses, and check for voltage at the element itself.

In fact, I would check for 240v at the element. If it's there then check the resistance of the element itself. The element should read about 10 ohms I believe. It will read very high or open if it's bad. If you are not getting voltage at the element start going backwards checking the high limit thermostat next. Should have 0 ohms or continuity if it is good. I imagine you will find the faulty component before making it back to the timer, but if you want info on checking it with a meter later let me know. Good luck.

Default Maytag MDE8600AYW no heat after power cycled off to dryer

No help here from me, but I have a similiar problem. I turned the C/B off to the dryer 2 nights ago to do some work in the house. Now the dryer will not heat but tumbles and blows fine. Another weird thing is that when the door is opened I see the light on the inside of the dryer turn on then off very quickly and the light does not stay on when the door is opened. I have a feeling the circuit board may be bad or a bad heat relay on the circuit board. Any suggestions from anyone???
