Thumbs down Dryer timer won't count down/shut off
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: DLB2450BSLWH
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,
The timer on our Hotpoint dryer won't count down, or shut off, when I set it for timed drying. Twice recently I set it for around 40 minutes of drying, and when I finally remembered to empty the dryer I discovered that it had been running for hours!! After about 5 hours of running, the timer was still set at the 40 minutes I had set it for, and had not moved. Will this require replacement of the complete timer assembly, and how difficult would it be to replace it, on this particular model? Thanks very much, for your help!!

Very common for GE timer motors to go bad. These are a bit expensive.
Pn we4x628. GE wants $207 for the whole timer, uhg.
I would try to get a used timer motor or see if the motor is still availabe as a separate part, probably not.

Default Thanks for the info

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it very much!! Wow...for $207 for the timer, I may as well go ahead and buy a new dryer, it would appear (that dryer only cost around $298 8 or 9 years ago, as I recall). Anyway, thanks again. Your website is a great help!! :-)
