Default Dryer Timer Does Not Advance
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LGR5620KQ1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Timer stopped advancing on sensed dry settings. It does advance on timed drying. Also noticed the load does not get properly dried on sensed dry settings (load is still damp after unit has ran for a very long time and appears unit may have gone into cooldown mode way too early). I am wondering if it may be a ventilation problem or if the timer or thermostat may need to be replaced.

It sound like your operating thermostat is not cycling.

The cycling thermostat is locate on the blower housing.

Here is a link to your Whirlpool dryer model LGR5620KQ1.

It could be the cycling thermostat, but it could also be a clogged vent. Clean out the vent hose at the back of the dryer. Then while it is off, turn the dryer on real quick so you can feel how hard it blows. Then cut the dryer off, and put the hose back on, and then turn the dryer on, and then go outside, and see if the air comes out just as hard. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
