Default Dryer Timer Broken?
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: SDE3606AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Last night our Maytag dryer (model: SDE3606AYW) starting a perpetual cycle. That is, to say, that it won't stop until it either blows up or until Christ returns. Either way I'd like to be able to stop that little problem. I just need A) make sure that's the problem and B) get a tip on how to do such a procedure. There's really no difference in the overall performance of the machine other than the little arrow just stays where it is when you set the timer and will apparently run until the end of time unless you stop it. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Here is a Maytag SDE3606AYW to the parts

Here is a link to a clearer wiring digram and tech info
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16023127.pdf

Try it on all cycle types (timed dry uses a different set of contacts than auto)

Check to see if you have 120 volts across the timer motor. If you do not have 120 then you have a contact or switch problem.
Undo one of the timer wires and check the timer motor for resistance, if infinite the timer motor is burned out.

If you do not have a volt/ohm meter, I suggest you buy one. You can get a decent digital meter for under $25.00, you do not need fancy. Is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves you from buying one unnecessary part it has paid for itself.
