Default Dryer takes a long time to dry
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DBXR453ET5WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I am working on fixing this dryer which has a few issues

-First the switch which turns it on is shot. I ordered a new one today, so I can hopefully diagnose the other problem...
-when it was working it took forever to dry and sometime water would leak out of the front cabinet door.

Any body know what the main causes of this malfunction. From what I've read so far it could be a thermometer or the heating element. I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to try to fix it or not. I have a local place in town that has great refurbished appliances and they have a dryers starting around $175.
I'm trying to figure out which direction to go, so I don't buy a bunch of parts, then can't fix it myself, and end up buying another one anyway.

Also, I have been reimbursing my roomates for their laundry fees since I own the house and it is my responsibility.

I appreciate you feedback, Thanks

My guess would be, that if you have water leaking out the front of the dryer, you have a washer problem not a dryer problem. Sounds like the washer is not spinning out enough water from the clothes.
