Default Dryer takes forever to dry
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: ldg6914aae
Age: More than 10 years

My gas dryer has started taking forever to dry clothes. I have checked the duct that takes the air out and it is clear. It is getting hot in the tumbler, but there doesn't seem to be much air flow inside the dryer, also alot of lint staying in the dryer with the clothes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try starting it with the exhaust duct disconnected - - is it blowing air out the back of the unit? If not, check the blower fan.

If it's blowing out the back, but not pulling it from the drum, it's pulling it from somewhere else - you'll have to find where.

I once had a Kenmore with a bad lint build-up inside the fan fairing, had to dig it loose with a screwdriver (and completely dis-assembled the unit in the process) - - it still blew air, but at <=50% capacity or less before cleaning. While this may not be your primary problem, I'd watch for this type of build-up in a 10+ y.o. unit.

Good luck.

I would take JSEHandymans advice first, if your problem still persists try replacing the thermostat.
