Question Dryer takes 70+ minutes to dry
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GVW9959KQ2
Age: 1 - 4 years

Purchased this model in March 2004 and it has never dried quickly. It has "Senseon" but when I do an automatic setting (eg: Normal) which is supposed to sense the dryness needed, it runs for about 35 minutes and then turns off with clothes still wet. So i just always use timed dry and it takes at least 70 minutes and sometimes i have to add more time. I've had Whirlpool send someone out 2 times and both times the technician can't find anything physically wrong with it (sensors seem to look okay but seems like they wouldn't let the clothes finish wet if they worked properly). One told me it always takes an average of one hour to dry clothes. I'm tired of this and am thinking of just ditching it and getting a new dryer. Are my expectations for a shorter dry time unreasonable? These are average size loads (no towels/jeans) and sometimes only baby clothes (which are small and should dry quickly).

EDIT: Model number is GEW9868KQ2

Can you please check your model number the one you gave is for your washer.

If the dryer is a 240 volt it should take about 45 minutes to dry a load of clothes.

How long is the vent run for the dryer?

If you can handle this in the heat, run the dryer with the vent disconnected and see what time it takes to dry a normal load of clothes. Post results.

Sorry, the model is GEW9868KQ2. I checked the manual and can't find a reference to voltage.
