Default Dryer submerged in water - won't start
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.66112500

One year old dryer was submerged in about 8" of water over night (flood) and won't start. I checked electric, door, etc. Dryer was working fine before being submersed in water. Dryer was not in use at time of flood/submersion. Any ideas/parts that might be effected. Thanks! Dave

If you tried to start the dryer while motor was still wet (not dried out) this would have caused the motor to fail and motor will have to be replaced.

I couldn't bring up your model number. Could you please double check it?

same thing happened to me - will check motor for continuity, etc. later, but can a motor be dryed using a hair blower, and then put to use if windings did not fail?

Yes it is possible.
If the dryer was not turned on before it was dry.

Can you very quickly describe what happens when a dryer motor is mistakenly started when wet? Do the windings short out? Thank you in advance.

Water is an excellent conductor of electricity. It will cause power to travel in places it was not intended to go, causing a short circuit.

Hope this helps.
