Default Dryer stops midcycle
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: dRSR483GD3WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dryer runs and heats but shuts down after a couple minutes. I am drying a regular load and if i take out some clothes it will run and stop again. The only way it will stay on is if I only dry 2-3 items.

There is a very good possibility that your motor is your culprit. ApplianceEducator.com Tom

The dryer is only 1 year and 3 months old...could the motor have really gone in that time? I don't want to spend $150 on a new motor. For a little bit more, I could just buy a new one again? How can I know for sure?

Lets just be sure. If you put the clothes in, and it shuts off, will it turn on right of way, everytime it shuts off? Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Yes, it will turn on right away, but it will shut down again after a couple minutes. This will continue all night. When I start it up, it goes on like there is nothing wrong with it, but when it is about to shut down, it makes a loud rumbling noise. Should I take it apart and look at the motor? I was reading about the motor end bells being worn.

Yes, there could be something stuck in the blower housing. ApplianceEducator.com Tom
