Default Dryer still tearing clothes after repair
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: XE90346439
Age: 5 - 10 years

Driyer slides were badly damaged and made lots of noise. Clothes were getting burn marks but not damaged. Intalled new seals and slides and noise went away but clothes are now getting holes in them. The drum does not move up and down much at all now, so I am puzzled about the damage to the clothing. These tears are usually about 1/2 to 1" long in a straight line.

Could not find any info under this Model Number

Your earlier problem puzzles me in that you were burning clothes
I assume the dryer was given a good cleaning while it was opened up
Check and clean your vent something must be impeding air flow to allow a dryer to get that hot. I am surprised a thermal fuse did not blow.

Now for your current problem
Sounds like it was put together incorrectly
I would put on a pair of cloth gloves and carefully check the tub especially at the front and back seal areas also around any of the fins. One of them may not be seated flush with the tub.

if this was a kenmore branded frigidaire ( I cant seem to find a picture of your model) theres a chance you put the top felt on backwards. The extended plastic pieces that stick out from the felt are supposed to stick towards the control panel not into the drum.

I will check all these areas over the weekend and see if the guides are facing the wrong way.

There are a few "rough" glue spots on the round bulkhead which one can feel when running your finger along the seal. The drum will still move up approx 1/8-3/16" when pushed upwards. That is a great improvement as all but the very slightest of plastic guide was left and most of the seal on the left side before I installed the new guide.

I am to install a new belt tensioner this weekend as well.

Thanks so much for your advice.

Guide tabs are installed correctly -- facing towards control panel. I see that there are a few areas, where the felt is installed against the bulkhead, where there are gaps between the felt and the metal - up to an eighth of an inch. I filed the metal edge there and removed the glue residue. I don't think this is going to fix the problem. My guess is that I will have to reorder the seal and guide parts and re-glue them into place so there are absolutely no gaps. In the meantime, it appears that I have removed every possible rough place where clothing could snag, but it is possible with these gaps, that clothing could get lodged into and therefore rub into a hole.
