Default Dryer staying hot
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DVLR223EV0WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a GE dryer that is continuing to heat after the timer has kicked off and also after the door has been opened. On two different occasions I have returned to the laundry room after removing a load of clothes and felt heat from the dryer. The top of the dryer is VERY hot to the touch (hot enough to melt a pack of gum lying on top of it). After turning the timer away and back to the off position the dryer will cool off. It seems to do this when it is in the timed heat position. It heats normally when a load of clothes is drying. I recently moved the dryer away from the wall to have some plumbing work done in the laundry room and then moved it back. The problem seemed to start after this. Any idea what the problem could be?? I'm also having washer problem now to, so I'll be posting in the washer forum. I can't afford new ones right now so I need to find a fix.

TIA!

Could be a shorted out thermostat on it, could be an element shorted to ground, you'd need a voltage meter to do any self troubleshooting on it. Knowing how to use the voltage meter would be even more beneficial to you.
