Default Dryer starts then stops
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDET446AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The dryer starts then shuts off after 1 minute or so regardless of what setting it is on. I would like to order part but need to know what to order. Purchased 1 year ago in Oct.

Can you start the dryer again right after it shuts down, or do you have to wait a few minutes before it will work again? Does it make an humming noise like it is having a hard time starting?

I want to say it may be a motor going bad, however, it sounds like this is a fairly new dryer. It's happened before though.

First, Thank you for responding. It makes no noise, has no problem starting... it will start in any mode, however it stops after 60 seconds or so. I am a 65 yr. old lady, but I am pretty handy.

Hi. Sorry it has taken a while to reply again. Are you still having the same issue with your dryer? I still suspect the dryer may have a motor that is going bad. If it is still giving you problems then let me know and we can try to further isolate the problem. Thanks.
