Default Dryer start without start button and won't heat
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.60956990
Age: 5 - 10 years

This is a Kenmore DDOT-ELE-2406028-EH54. First problem is the dryer starts without pushing the start button. The next problem is that the dryer stopped heating. If the dial is moved to a different heat setting, then sometimes the dryer will start to heat again for that load, but will not on the next. Are these two problems related? Does anyone have any idea why these things are happening?

You could have a bad timer, your start switch is most likely stuck in the on position. But the heating problem you mhave you need to be more specific, and find out if there is a consistancy. You can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

If you have a kenmore Elete model and it has a 3x6" control board in side the control panel.Ckeck and see if the part #on the board is 8546229 or3978949.when the board starts going bad it will have start button problems ,then sometimes no heat, then when it starts all by itself and will run all nite & day till you open door.I have found 4 of these in the last 6 months, 3 kenmore Eletes, 1 whirlpool gold model I replaced 2 boards so far, only to have the new boards to go bad in a week. If any one solves this problem let me know. Betty Boop

Well thanks for your help. You sure don't make it sound good though. Make sure you let me know if you do find out what the problem is with these.

Thanks

I left one defective board with a board repair service in Clearwater Fl, to see what causes the break down, be cause installing a new board only lasts a week to 10 days, till I can find the cause. On 2 of the Kenmores eletes, I've replaced the control panels and wire harness with one from a "90" series kenmore that does not use a board, that way my customers can use there machines.
