Default Dryer squelling, heating element fire
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FEX831CS0
Age: 5 - 10 years

For about a week/ week and a half, my stackable dryer has been making some bad sqeaking noises, starting at just a rotational sqeak seemed to be in one spot of the rotation, it quickly turned into it squealing the entire time it was on. In a haist, not thinkin, I "wiggled" the inside drum to maybe reposition? bearings or what not. Upon doing that, the heating element started to glow, with the door open, and got VERY bright, then poof, some small flames from the heater element.

I'm pretty mechanical and would like to think I can repair this myself if it is at all repairable, but I would in NO WAY like to risk a fire in my dryer.

What should I do?

Also forgot to add that it is a stackable washer/dryer combo with electric dryer.

Default

Take the dryer apart and check the bearing.

Check and see if something was stuck in the drum like a bra wire. The wire will be C shaped.

Here is a link to your washer/dryer model FEX831CS0.
