Default Dryer squeaks, need help with repair!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PYG 3200 AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My dryer was squeaking when it ran. Took the front off to check it out.... now not quite sure what to do next. Can I take the drum out to help replace the belt. Any ideas on what would cause a squeak?

Once you have removed the front under the drum there is an idler pully that keeps the belt tight push it in the other direction the belt will slack allowing you to pull out the tub and belt check to see if you have rollers at the back of the unit check for cracks in the rollers or anything might be bogging them down the need to spin easy...also check what I call the tub skids on the door and the rear of the unit where the drum would glide on if they are wore you will hear a metal to metal sound

Red face Thanks

We found out it was the rear drum rollers. Got the drum off completely by accident.... and found two worn wheels..... now the problem is waiting for the parts stores to open up after the holiday weekend! Should have quite the pile of laundry waiting when we get this running again! Thanks for the help!

Usually the rear drum rollers that do this. I use a non-detergent oil to lubricate them.
Detergent oil will oxidize and gum-up.

Thanks, mine was squeaking a bit too. It was a bit freaky at first, because I was like "Oh no, what am I going to do" but I got a friend to have a look at it and replace the two rear drum rollers.
