Default Dryer soot
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LGR5636KQI
Age: 5 - 10 years

My gas dryer started blowing soot into the drum, staining the drum and the clothes. I canīt use it now, even though all the rest of the functions work fine.

I also checked the burner (small hole in the front) and the rear side of the combustion sylinder is stained in black.

I don`t know if the burner or tthe LP gas is the problem. Also, I don`t know how to open the dryer since I don`t have any repair or maintenence manual.

Thanks

Is this a LP gas or natural gas dryer?

Is this a LP gas or natural gas dryer? It sounds like you are burning nat gas in an lp dryer or vise versa.

You likely have a dryer set to burn natural gas and you're trying to burn propane or vise versa. Don't worry you haven't hurt anything as long as it hasn't gone on too long. It needs to be converted and it's simple to do. Let me know and i can talk you through it.

Just another thought
Could be a dirty system that is limiting the air flow to the burner causing an incorrect fuel/air mixture
You may want to invest in a carbon monoxide detector. This can be a very dangerous situation.
