If by shut off you mean both motor and heater.
Sounds like your motor's internal thermal cutout is opening
Normally you have to wait a while for the cutout to reset due to thermal mass of the motor (takes time to cool down). Yours may be starting to go bad.
When you restart it and it runs for less time , does it now take a while to restart?
If you do this a number of times do the times change (quit time shorter and reset time longer)
I would open the unit up and give it a good cleaning. Could be the motor is clogged with lint. Would also clean and check the vent system. Check the belt, idler roller, tub support rollers/glides, etc. Unless you find something obvious that would put extra load on the motor I would not replace any parts at this time just in case the motor is going south. If you find it is the motor that is going then you have to decide is it worth putting that many dollars into the unit. |
