Angry Dryer runs without heat
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: 4030VW0
Age: More than 10 years

I have a whirlpool Dryer Serial # MX3437842 Model #4030VW0 and noticed the dryer was running but no heat, so i shut it off and checked to see if the breaker shut off and it was O.K. then i checked to see if i had 240 volts to where the plug wire is attached to drier and it was O.K. then i disconnected the 2 wires that go to the thermo switch and connected them together then tried the dryer again and still was blowing cold air then i checked the heating element with an ohm meter and it read 000 OHMS continuity , What is the correct reading in OHMS when you check the heating elements and Thermal switch ? I also noticed that the plug looked like it was burned but was still getting 240 volts , does this dryer by any chance have a thermal fuse? OH the timer seems to cycle O.K.

Any Input would be appreciated Thank You .

I fixed one wednesday, that every thing checked out, but the plug looked burned, and the prongs were loose in the plastic. I held the meter on the line #1 and line#2 then pressed start at the same time and voltagh dropped to like 45 volts. I replaced the power cord and every thing powered up, back to normal The cause, usually an old receptical in an older house and the receptial contacts are loose causing the prongs to get hot over time till it burns most of the strands of wire crimped to the prongs on the plug. And there is a thermal fuze onthe top left of the heater box

I found the thermol fuse and removed the 2 wires and tied them together and got heat,so the thermol fuse must of been the problem . I think i will also get a new power cord & a 240 wall outlet. Thank You for the input . you saved me a bundle .
