Default Dryer runs and then won't run, loud buzzing sound, drum wants to go but can't
Brand: Admiral
Model Number: LNC7745A71
Age: More than 10 years

Our clothes dryer will dry well for a long time but as soon as we open the door it will not start again and makes a loud buzzing sound and won't start. The drum will attempt to turn but can't seem to get going. After 2-3 hours it seems to work again. Today it seems to have stopped working alltogether.

I opened it up and cleaned the vent and the motor. The belt is ok but could maybe use another one. I think the loud noise is coming more from the timer than down low by the motor.

Any ideas or things to check.

The next time (if there is a next time) that it works and then only buzzes. Give the drum a push while it is buzzing. If the drum begins to spin, then the windings in the motor have burned out. Replace the motor. Its easy.
