When operating in Auto modes, the dryer continues to run long after clothes are dry. The knob does very slowly rotate towards "Off". In Manual mode, again, the knob rotates, but if set for say, 30 min., the dryer is still running 55 minutes later. Heat appears to be normal. Is it time for a timer replacement? I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Both Timer and Auto are running correctly just slow so my guess would be it is the timer. One way to check is open up the control console and run it in timed mode.
On some timers you can see the motor turning also listen to it, this will give you an idea of the run speed. Remove the motor from the timer and run the unit, if it speeds up then you know either the motor is shot or the timer is putting too much load on the motor. In either case replace the timer.

If you decide to do this make sure you unplug the unit when messing with it, also make sure nothing can short out and you hands are clear of the unit when running it.

BE CAREFUL there is 240 Volts at the timer which can kill!!!

Thank you very much for the information. I have downloaded the manual and will read through it and see if I feel competent to follow the instructions. If I understand what you said, your primary suspect is the timer?

Yes, that would be my first choice

Thank you. I have read somewhere that another possibility is a clogged vent. I shall start with that (the easiest) and then check the timer. I appreciate being given a place to start.
