Question Dryer runs but won't heat
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.96374210
Age: More than 10 years

Looking for a wiring diagram/schematic for our Kenmore Model 110.96374210 electric clothes dryer, or information on where to get one.

The timer had been acting up and not shutting off the dryer. Also during that time it was not heating up as hot as usual, and took clothes longer to dry. Now dryer can be turned on and will run, but timer doesn't shut it off and it doesn't heat at all. The timer was replaced about 3 - 4 years ago, and worked fine up until about 6 months ago. My husband is an automotive electrician and has checked out the parts he thought it could be with his volt meter, but everything seems to check out OK. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

The wiring diagram should be in the control panel or stuck to the back of the dryer.

If it is not in either location contact Sears parts and service and you should be able to get one.

Make sure that you have your model number when you call.

Here is a link to the parts of your dryer model 110.96374210.

Thanks for the suggestions, Sheila, but my husband has already been into both the control panel and the back of the dryer and there was not a schematic in either place. I had also emailed Sears and they responded saying they have one and it is $9.99. I was hoping to find a free source online since I am unable to work and my husband has been unemployed since last October and money is very tight right now. Thank you for trying, though.

The reason that the timer does not shut off is because the dryer is not heating. You are saying that the dryer is not heating at all. Is that correct? If so get that volt meter, and put in on ohms, and check the element. If you get continuity it is good, if you don't it bad. Just above the element on the top of the element assembly is a thermal fuse, pull 1 wire off, and check for ohms, if you get continuity its good, if you get nothing its bad. That covers that. Now if it heats a little bit, take the vent hose off at the wall, and lay aside, and run a load, if it dry's fine, your vent to the outside is clogged.
