Default Dryer rear panel scorching hot
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: WDE546RFS0
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a White-Westinghouse dryer (Model # WDE546RFS0). The rear panel of the dryer gets real hot just seconds after the dryer is turned on (too hot to touch). So hot that the rear panel has started to show discoloration.

I replaced the high limit thermostat on the heating element, thinking that was the problem. However, the problem is still occurring. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I have thought about replacing the thermal limiter which is mounted inside on the rear panel. Could this possibly be the problem?

Does it dry clothes ok. Is the blower working. Check for blocked air flow.>>>Electric Dryer Repair Guide: How to Check the Air Flow - ACME HOW TO.com

Air flow seems real good. Disassembled and cleaned out all lint in the internal duct work and replaced the high limit thermostat. Put back together, left vent line off and ran it. Back panel still gets extremely hot (too hot to touch).
