Default Dryer producing strange smell
Brand: Maytag
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dryer was just moved. It has started making a strange smell (almost like lighter fluid). It is electric so I know this isn't natural gas. The drying time seems to be a little longer than usual but it is still drying and heating. We have checked the hose connection from the dryer to outside and it seems to be fine. I did notice that my clothes smelled just like the smell when done so something isn't flowing quite right. Suggestions?

I am having the same problem. We moved the dryer. Now all the clothes in the dryer smells like kerosene when we use it. Stranger is that when I shut of the gas and use the AIR to dry the clothes, without heat, there is NO smell. Any thoughts out there?

could be something in the air that when it gets heated up it changes smell, like paints or anything that is a oil based product.
