Default Dryer overheating
Brand: Crosley
Model Number: cde6500w
Age: 1 - 4 years

I can only put small amount of clothes in dryer. Sometimes it will run a complete cycle. Most of the times i have to constantly restart it after it stops after a couple of minutes.

Is probably a vent problem, a thermostat tripping too early or a loose blower wheel

Disconnect the dryer from the vent
Run it
Check for heat and good air flow
Does it now run OK
If yes, you probably have a vent problem. Clean it and check that the outside vent opens easily/fully.

If getting lint in the hose is of concern. Take a pair of pantie hose put one leg inside the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust. Leave enough room so it can blow out like a wind sock

I do believe we are past a clogged vent problem. If the dryer does not immediatly come on after it shuts off, it is cutting out on the motor overload. Therefore the motor would need to be replaced. You can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
