Default Dryer not starting
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: 970c69042
Age: 1 - 4 years

Trying to correct ,what I think is minor problem.I have electrical troubleshooting experience,(15 yrs).Dryer won't start, checked door switch, tested start button. Here is where the trouble starts. When I hold the start button over ,I can hear the timer motor trying to start cycle ,,but it will not stay in the activated or engaged position.I am thinking this indicates defective timer motor assembly.Does this seem the correct diagnosis? Thanking you in advance ,

Cannot find any info on this Model Number
Are you sure it is correct?

When you say you can hear the timer running, does anything else happen.
Specifically does the motor run?
Does this happen on all cycle types re: timed dry, perm press etc.?
Does it happen on all temp settings?

Could be a broken belt if the unit has a belt break switch.
Could be a thermal fuse depends on the wiring. Sometimes it kills the motor and heater but the timer has an alternate path.

Default dryer not starting,,

Yes I am sure of model number ,,got it from inside the door ,, Canadian model,, difficult to track from this end ,,When I engage the start button ,,nothing will happen at all ,,unless I hold the start button over in the satrt position,,then I can hear the timer motor trying to start ,,,but it won't activate ,nor will it go to actual position to activate main motor for actually starting dryer ,,I had the top open on the unit ,belt is okay ,,checked thermal fuses and high limit with continuity check ,but did not check with ohms value ,,will recheck those ,,
