Default Dryer Not Starting
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FSE748GFS1
Age: 5 - 10 years

I can't get the dryer to start. The start switch buzzes when turned but the motor does not start. What needs to be done to get this going again. . . new switch or fuse perhaps. Thermostat has been replaced several times.

Does the motor make a loud buzz when you push the start button? Have someone push the start button, at the same time you hold the door switch in with one hand, and with the other hand grab a paddle inside the drum, and give it a good push counterclockwise. if it starts, does it kinda growl, and act slugish? If so, start windings/bearings are burned out. No amount of oil will save it. It also might have a smell of burnt insulation. replace motor. Let me know.Bettyboop

Hi, I seem to have the same problem with my dryer. When pushing the start button, it buzzes, but it would not start. Switch click is what I hear. It does not look like it is anything to do with the security switch at the door opening.

No you're right. But a good test for a burned out motor, open the door, push the door button, have someone push and hold the start button, at the same time you give a drum paddle a push counterclockwise. If it starts, and growls, or buzzes, and has a foul odor. it is proably a burned out motor, and must be replaced Bettyboop

A bad motor would make a loud humm, really loud. You probably have a blown thermal fuze located on the back wall of the dryer, just to the right of the heater.
