Default Dryer not heating
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mde3000ayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

The subject pretty much says it all...

The heating element checks out, as does the high-limit thermostat and thermal sensors. The cycling thermostat on the blower housing has continuity on two of the terminals, but not the other two.. I'm not sure if this is a problem because from the way it looks it's a biasing thermostat. Should I be getting continuity on both sets of terminals on the cycling thermo or do the 2 n/c terminals only get connected when the thermostat is up to temp?

The drum turns fine, and the blower blows. The timer advances on all settings.

edit: I made a mistake with the model number of my dryer, it's a mde7600ayw

Are you getting 240 volts? Is there continuity on the terminals (2 red wires,) on the safety switch, that is part of the motor start switch, that stops the the current to the heater? Every once in a while, I run across a bad safety switch, after trying to find out why no heat, when everything else checks out!

I noticed last night after I put things back together that the dryer was getting heat for a few minutes (not sure how long), but it cut off again sometime during the cycle, so the clothes didn't finish drying. Does this indicate a bad or dirty moisture sensor?

anyone?

I guess it could either be the moisture sensor or the cycling thermostat. Can anyone tell me how to test the cycling thermo?

I have a 4-pronged thermostat on the blower tube which I'm assuming from reading elsewhere is a bias-heated one. Should both sets of prongs be connected, or should one pair be n/c?

If, you think it's the sensor, wipe it good with a cotton ball and alchol, you know the cycling thermostst has contintuity, cause you tested it, by the way when a set of contacts on cycling thermostat has contintuity, the other set are open, then they switch places, and switch back again, (advances the timer). and you tested the motor safety switch, thermals have contintuity, you have 240 volts, hi-limit stat tested good, the only thing for you to check, is to open the timer and see if contacts are severly burned!
