Question Dryer not heating
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mde3000ayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

Early neptune--was working fine then seemed to lose heat on different cycles. acted like temp selector so I changed it, also changed start switch. Before I got the new switches I had tapped around the back of temp sw and the moisture indicator and got heat then lost it again and found a burnt spot on the temp sw slide track so I figured the temp sw was ng. new parts are in no heat power at element. but no glow. element looks good and disconnected resistance was 8-11 ohms w/ meter. could the circuit board in the moisture indicator be bad and causing the element not to heat properly. Same condition on all cycles. Tapping around doesn' get any results anymore.

Check your thermostats to make sure that they are closed.

If the thermostats check out to be good it could be the timer.

The moisture sensor circuit is not use on the timed dry cycle so you should have heat there.

Here is a link to your dryer model mde3000ayw.

Thank you for responding. Please check my reasoning before I order parts. Tstats have continuity. One on blower duct has 4 terminals 2 outer have continuity 2 inner ones do not. I assume this is correct as they should be closed when limit is achieved. I tried timer in timed dry 10 minutes no movement. timer appears to be likely suspect. the line voltage is ok.

The thermostat on the blower should have continuity on both set of terminals.

The thermostat contact open when the temperature goes up.

Your thermostat is faulty.

The time will only move on the moisture sensing circuit when the thermostat contacts open.

Are you getting 240 volts to the dryer?

You will have to use the wiring diagram and meter you will have to see where you are losing your power.
