Question Dryer not drying right
Brand: Roper
Age: 1 - 4 years

About a week or so ago. My dryer seemed to get really hot when it dryed clothes. Then about 2 or 3 days ago, when I put my dryer in auto it will dry but takes forever and the knob will not move at all. When I put it in timed, the knob will move but still takes forever to dry my clothes. I have to put it through a couple more cycles for it to completely dry. I have a family of 6 and my laundry is piling up cause the dryer is taking forever to dry my clothes. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you so much.

check the venting on the dryer. if this is a gas dryer it could be the coils going bad. Auto dry only moves the timer if the dryer get hot enough to go off on the thermostat

You might have a fabric softener sheet stuck on the filter frame, or a serious blower blockage

I checked and cleaned out the dryer vent. I don't use dryer sheets. We have a Gas (propane) dryer. Something is wrong with the dryer.

Disconnect the dryer vent and see how long the dryer takes to dry a load, also jam a thermometer in the dryer vent and measure the average temperature, should be around 145 degrees.

sounds like the coils on the valve are going bad. if the dry has a peep hole to look at the flame, or if the bottom comes off. watch the flame thee see if it restarts after the ignitor comes on. if the ignitor comes on and then goes out w/out lighting the burner it most likely are the coils
