Exclamation Dryer Not Drying
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

i have had this dryer for at least 5-10 years the only thing that i have had to replace is the belt now. after a year the drying process is not working properly. i put it on for the 80 mins and then go and check and they are damp put it on for another 80 mins then they are dry. i do have a very long duct hose behind it so i move the dryer up away from the wall so that the air can travel. should i just go ahed and cut it and make it really short, or is it something else need help .

This is the first time on this site. I have the same problem! My Maytag dryer is 13 or 14 years old. If you get an answer, E-mail me, please. I do not want to buy any new appliances. Thank you.

Undo your vent hose
Take a pair of pantyhose put one leg inside the other
Attach this to your dryer output so it can blow like a windsock
Dry some clothes if the dry time is drastically reduced your vent line is the problem

I pull my dryer and vent apart every couple years and give both a good cleaning and check. Am on the third dryer in 38 years and the first one is at the cottage and still runs fine.

kayak actually been using it for over 35 years
When first married our house was very dry in the winter.
Only did a few loads a week
Figured I'd kill two birds with one stone - save on energy costs and raise the humidity during the winter
Worked great for a couple years till the first kid showed up, then our washing frequency increased where we had too much humidity so I had to resort to external venting.
