I SAID A CAP IS LIKE A LITE BULB IF IT'S BAD NOTHING HAPPENS, ie BAD (DEAD CAP-DEAD LITE BULB) NEITHER WILL OPERATE, UNDERSTAND WHAT I SAID BETTYBOOP

If a cap is bad if it can be electrically open or short. Your explanation only gave one side. I gave the other. What is the problem here? Why the capital letters? Are you the only one in the world allowed to explain things? Are you always right?

If it is open you are correct....Nothing will work. Motor will get no power at all. DEAD in your explanation.

If, however, it is SHORTED , what I stated is true and correct. It is not a waste of time for this individual to hear relevant information no matter what YOU think. I was not trying to pick a fight nor one up you at all. Rather, I was trying to provide a more detailed explanation of a MODE of failure not explained by you.

I do not need to explain my background. I KNOW that what I am saying is correct. For someone with your listed experience you seem to be very insecure. Nobody was criticizing anything you said......simply adding a failure mode you left out.

If you want to contribute, then do so. Correct misinformation....ok fine. I can admit when I am wrong but keep lecturing and yelling, which ALL CAPS is the equivalent to, in your home with people who care to listen.

Remember, no single individual on this planet knows everything. Others can contribute too!

CW Pierce Your 6or8 paragraphs has absolutely nothing to do with the man's wanting help on his dryer with a bad motor, Please understand his dryer and most all do not have start caps. The capitals was that while Iwas typing and didn't relize the caps lock was on till I was 2/3rds through the message. I'm sorry your feelings were hurt so badly. But if you read all the posts from the beginning,
I nor any else didn't need a lecture on electrical enginering and capisitors, on a machine that does not have one. I read other peoples problems and if a tech is trying to help them I don't enterfere with their ideas when they are trying to help some one who has a model I don't have any experience with. If I see you helping some one with their dryer, believe me I won't butt in on you appliance advice, too much wasted time allready, Bettyboop

Cool

My six or eight paragraphs were to explain to Him what I was talking about and possibly enlighten you on a view point you may not have thought about.

Partial information is just as bad as misinformation and I was trying to fill a gap. Your comment about lecturing is interesting and very telling. It implies exactly what I said in my last post. You have no desire to learn from others and thus this implies you believe you know more than anyone else.

I did not know this appliance did not contain starter caps. I was shooting from the hip on a common problem which destroys motors. This I readily admit. The six or eight paragraphs you speak of where to educate you that your statement which I included in my last post was only partially correct. It may help you in future appliance troubleshooting if you are just willing to accept the fact that someone else may have something of value to teach you.

Upset? No, not me.....too many other things in the world far more important than this forum!

I do not mind you replying to anything I have said now or in the future. I live every day knowing there is something new to LEARN and I look forward to it! For example: Most dryers do not contain starter caps. I did not know this, however, most does not imply ALL, so my posts could be of value to this person or maybe to a future viewer of this thread whom owns a dryer that does have them.

After all is said and done. People come to this forum and any other for that matter to LEARN something they did not already know.

Peace!
Wes
