Default Dryer may run too hot
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 80 Series, #110.60832990
Age: 5 - 10 years

I will replace my timer when it arrives in the next couple of days. This I know is bad. My wife thinks that the dryer is running a little hot (in addition to the timer not working). I have a couple of questions. First, will a non-working timer (the timer did not move in any setting) cause the dryer to run a little hot, that is, is there a kind of feed-back between the timer and thermostat? Second, after looking through several posts on this forum, it seems like the cycling thermostat is a frequent cause of overheating. This being the case, is that thermostat the same as the "internal bias thermostat" that sits on the blower of my dryer? Finally, I seem to have 3 thermostats: internal bias, a hi-limit, and a 250 degree thermostat. Why do I have 3 thermostats?

If the dryer is running hot it is likely cycling on one of the other thermostats.

The internal bias thermostat is the cycling thermostat.

If the contacts in the thermostat fuse together the dryer will cycle on the other thermostats.

The reason for the thermostats is safety.

There is also a thermal fuse that will cut the power to the dryer.

Here is a link to the part of your dryer model 110.60832990.
